Call
Emergency calls are answered 24/7. For a leak, sewage backup or no water, calling is the fastest way to get a plumber.
If water is leaking right now
- Shut off the main water valve. In most Tampa homes it's in the meter box near the street or on the outside wall where the line enters the house, often near a hose bib. Turn it clockwise until it stops.
- Turn off the water heater. Switch off the breaker for an electric heater, or turn a gas heater's control to pilot or off.
- Open a faucet at the lowest point. A tub spout or outdoor hose bib drains the pressure left in the lines so less water comes out of the break.
- Move what you can and take photos. Get electronics and rugs out of the water's path, then photograph the damage for your insurance claim.
